The steady path to "the domestic eagle" -- The first anniversary of the commercial operation of COMAC C919

2025年9月10日，国航C919安全运行迎来一周年里程碑。从最初的单机启航到如今的5机编队，从京沪一线到连通全国7座枢纽城市，累计安全飞行8000余小时，运送旅客41万余人次……这份亮眼的“周岁答卷”，铭刻着中航人的责任担当，更是各单位同心勠力、创新开拓的奋斗篇章。

On September 10, 2025, COMAC C919 ushered in the first anniversary of its operational safety, which accumulated more than 8,000 hours of safe flight and transported more than 410,000 passengers. During this year, the initial single-plane sailing has become five-plane formation, and the air route has been developing from Beijing-Shanghai flight to the round-trip flight of seven hub cities in China. The year's dazzling accomplisments has reflected the responsibility of AVIC people with its concerted, innovative and pioneering efforts.

2024年8月29日，国航首架C919飞抵北京的那一幕，Ameco国产飞机中队队长孙磊至今历历在目：“机坪上格外热闹，大家齐聚一堂，迎接第一架载国旗国产大飞机。”然而，对飞行员和保障团队而言，兴奋之外，是沉甸甸的使命和前所未有的挑战。

Sun Lei is the captain of Ameco's domestic aircraft squadron, he still remembers the impressive sight when Air China's first C919 flew to Beijing on August 29, 2024, "everyone gathered in the apron with excitement to welcome the first domestic large aircraft with national flag." However, there are still the heavy missions and unprecedented challenges for pilots and support teams.

“经验空白”是大家的共同难题，“摸着石头过河”是他们的唯一选择也是必经之路。

Experience is a common problem for everyone, therefore "wading across the stream by feeling the way" is their only choice and the only way to cope with this problem.

“如何驾驭好新鹰”是首要课题。飞行总队将C919的安全运行和机队发展与集团公司战略部署、国家航空工业发展蓝图紧密关联，专门成立国产机型七大队，选拔精兵强将参加改装训练。飞行员怀着对国产飞机的深厚情怀刻苦钻研。这架凝聚着中国智慧的大飞机，其操作逻辑与传统机型差异显著。尽管全体人员在商飞接受了系统的初阶训练，但大家深知必须通过理论消化—思考沉淀—实践验证的深度磨合，才能真正驾驭它。团队细致分析每次飞行数据、反复比对，组织“最佳起落比武”提炼最优操作，凝结成飞行宝典——《C919航线运行指南》。独特的“教员责任制”也应运而生：每位教员专攻一个核心系统，淬炼精品课程，分享真知灼见。这些扎实的积累，筑起了安全飞行的基石。

The flight control of the new airplane is the primary topic. Hence, the flight crops of Air China specially set up seven flight groups of domestic aircraft models and selected elite pilots to participate in modification training, which can closely linked the operational safety and fleet development of C919 with the strategic deployment from group company and the blueprint for national aviation industry development. The pilots had studied hard with deep feelings for domestic aircraft. In addition, this large aircraft, which embodied Chinese wisdon, has significantly different operational logic compared to traditional aircraft. Although the staff have received systematic initial training at COMAC, the flight should be controlled with integrity of theory and practice. In addition to careful analysis and repeated comparison of flight data, the "best take-off and landing competition" is also carried out by flight crops to refine the optimal operation, which can gather the flight experiences to the flight guide-"C919 Air Route Operation Guide". A unique "teacher responsibility system" also came into being, which means each teacher specializes in a core system to improve quality of excellent courses and share insights. What we have done is the cornerstone of flight safety.

紧随其后的是无缝接力的“硬核保障”。飞机落地，重任便落到Ameco机务人员肩上。“每一个问题都是新问题，不少是业内‘首次实施’。”孙磊带领团队，事无巨细地记录每一次关键保障和重要排故案例，构建宝贵的经验库；创新推出“航前精准检查+航后深度维护+周检系统排查”三级保障模式，建立起一道坚固的防护墙。这套高效组合拳助力飞机日利用率稳步升至超过8小时，展现出超越同级新引进机型的运行韧性。

"Every problem is new, and many of them are 'implemented for the first time' in the industry." Sun Lei has recorded every key guarantee case and important troubleshooting in detail and build a valuable experience database with his team, which Innovatively launched a three-level guarantee model -- precise inspection before flight, in-depth maintenance after flight, and weekly system inspection. It is also establish a solid protective wall for the aircraft. With the help of this high-efficiency methods, the aircraft daily utilization has steadly increased to more than 8 hours, demonstrating the operational toughness compared to the new aircraft at the same level.

高效运行的背后，离不开中国商飞的强力协同。一年间，Ameco国产飞机中队与商飞团队召开35次工作例会，搭建起即时的沟通桥梁。总队七大队安全副大队长田科对此也深有感触：“这就是国产制造的独特优势。我们的重要问题，5分钟就能直达设计师，这种响应在波音空客方面是不可想象的。”

It is the effective coordination of COMAC that makes efficient operation possible. 35 regular working meetings of Ameco's domestic aircraft squadron and COMAC in this year has played a role of bridge to instant communication. Tian Ke, deputy director for safety of the Seventh Brigade of the Corps, was also deeply impressed by this, "This is the unique advantage of domestic manufacturing. Our important problem can reach the designer directly in 5 minutes, which is unimaginable speed for Boeing and Airbus."

The success of the market is essencial as well. The team repeatedly considered and cautious about the air route and the target passengers. They finally set the sights on high-quality routes with intensive passenger flow from Beijing to Shanghai Hongqiao, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and others in China, and specially arranged flights in morning and evening rush hour. Wen Wen, the base layout planning manager of the Network Revenue Department of Air China Business Committee, expressed the profound meaning: "First, we can ensure the maximun efforts to maintenance and supportability based on large base terminals. Second, C919 has played the role of bond to strengthen Air China's hub in Beijing, gather passenger flow, and connect the global route network under the guidance of national strategy. Third, we will focused on the high-end business market accurately and give full play to our own advantages." This is the operation strategy with precision and efficiency.

2025年，随着第三、四、五架C919相继入列，机队规模增长带来了新的复杂性与更高要求。

In 2025, the grouth of the C919 fleet brought about the new complexity and higher requirements when the third, fourth and fifth COMAC C919 had been providing the services one after another.

七大队以体系化建设夯基固本。从《C919航线运行指南》到《作风管理细则》，25项覆盖安全、训练、行政的关键制度与流程逐一落地，建立起规范化的运行体系。更深层面上，团队将凝聚力和战斗力归功于深入人心的“三心”文化：助力国产大飞机发展的拳拳初心，面对大飞机发展需要时间沉淀、持续改进的坚韧恒心，像匠人一样钻研技术吃透系统的精湛匠心。

The Seventh Brigade has built up and consolidated the solid foundation with systematic construction. The continued momentum has been brought by the enthusiastic response from the market. The Commercial Committee timely increased the key flight frequency in summer peak when the capacity of new aircraft released. Fortunately, the market response was gratifying, the C919 achieved a higher average load factor than competing aircraft on the same route during the period. "This shows that COMAC C919 flight was undoubtedly supported by most of the passengers, the domestic large aircraft is not the exception as well." Wen Wen said with proudness. What is even more touching is the sincere feedback from passengers, for example, some passengers with flight enthusiasm adjusted their itinerary specially to enjoy C919 flight and collect limited coasters as souvenirs, the retired engineers made a special trip just to wait for the acknowledgement by flight crew after the flight, and some international tourists praised the experience on social media. It can be seen that passengers take photos of the C919 from the boarding bridge, the flight crew in cockpit can also feel the support from the passengers, encouraging them to fly more steadily and better.

致远：同心协力 航向更广阔天宇

一周岁，是成长的重要坐标，更是未来航程的全新出发点。七大队规模已逾百人，成立了两个中队，管理日趋精细，但他们清醒地认识到：“主干初成，未来的枝繁叶茂更需精心打磨。”面对不断注入的新鲜血液，大队以高度的责任心构建起“扶上马送一程”的无缝衔接机制：飞行员改装前，所属单位干部亲自送行并详细介绍人员特点；入队后，大队立即建立“一人一档”成长档案，从技术精进到心理适应全程跟踪，确保每名飞行员在清晰的成长路径中稳步前行。

The first anniversary is an important moment for growth and a new beginning of the future flight.
