Promote the construction of new liberal arts! Xi'an Jiaotong University Silk Road History and Culture Research Institute inaugurated
为深入贯彻落实“一带一路”倡议，发挥学科交叉优势，推进新文科建设，4月7日，西安交通大学丝绸之路历史文化研究院在兴庆校区揭牌。
To thoroughly implement the Belt and Road Initiative, leverage interdisciplinary advantages, and promote the construction of new liberal arts, on April 7, the Silk Road Historical and Cultural Research Institute of Xi'an Jiaotong University was inaugurated at the Xingqing Campus.
西安交通大学校长、中国工程院院士张立群，茅盾文学奖得主、西安交通大学丝绸之路历史文化研究院院长熊召政，湖北省中华文化促进会常务副主席肖安民、执行副主席陈周、秘书长贺定安，西安交通大学文科资深教授边燕杰，国家级领军学者、敦煌研究院研究馆员、西安交通大学人文学院讲座教授杨富学，伦敦大学皇家豪洛威管理学院战略管理和国际商务学终身正教授、西安交通大学管理学院访问讲座教授谭辉，著名翻译家、西安交通大学人文学院讲座教授余泽民，陕西省委宣传部理论处处长高宝荣，西安交通大学党委常委、宣传部部长、统战部部长成进出席揭牌仪式。学校相关职能部门、学院负责人，专家学者及师生代表等参加揭牌仪式。揭牌仪式由西安交通大学党委常委、副校长柴渭主持。
Zhang Liqun, President of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Xiong Zhaozheng, winner of the Mao Dun Literature Prize and Dean of the Silk Road Historical and Cultural Research Institute of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xiao Anmin, Executive Vice Chairman of the Hubei Chinese Culture Promotion Association, Chen Zhou, Executive Vice Chairman, He Ding'an, Secretary-General, Bian Yanjie, Senior Professor of Humanities at Xi'an Jiaotong University, Yang Fuxue, National Leading Scholar, Researcher at the Dunhuang Academy, and Chair Professor of the School of Humanities at Xi'an Jiaotong University, Tan Hui, tenured full professor of Strategic Management and International Business at Royal Holloway, University of London, and Visiting Chair Professor at the School of Management of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Yu Zemin, renowned translator and Chair Professor of the School of Humanities at Xi'an Jiaotong University, Gao Baorong, Director of the Theory Division of the Propaganda Department of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, and Cheng Jin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Director of the Propaganda Department, and Director of the United Front Work Department of Xi'an Jiaotong University, attended the inauguration ceremony. Heads of relevant university departments and schools, experts, scholars, and representatives of teachers and students also participated in the ceremony. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Chai Wei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Xi'an Jiaotong University.
张立群代表学校致辞，向关心支持学校发展的各界朋友及研究院筹备团队与专家致以感谢和敬意。他表示，西安是古丝绸之路起点，见证了文明交流互鉴的千年历程，西安交大扎根西部、传承文脉，始终与国家和民族同频共振。研究院的成立是学校深耕人文社科、服务国家“一带一路”倡议的重要举措，也是西安交大传承文明、面向世界的责任担当。希望研究院能够打破学科壁垒，推动交叉创新，积极探索人文与理工的深度融合，走出一条具有交大特色的新文科发展道路。期待未来依托研究院这一平台，进一步加强文化交流，服务国家战略，为增进各国人民之间的相互理解和深厚友谊贡献西安交大智慧与力量。
Zhang Liqun delivered a speech on behalf of the university, expressing gratitude and respect to friends from all sectors who have cared for and supported the university's development, as well as to the institute's preparatory team and experts. He stated that Xi'an is the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, having witnessed a thousand-year journey of civilizational exchange and mutual learning. Xi'an Jiaotong University, rooted in western China and carrying forward the cultural legacy, has always resonated with the nation and its people. The establishment of the institute is an important measure for the university to deepen humanities and social sciences and serve the national Belt and Road Initiative, as well as a reflection of Xi'an Jiaotong University's responsibility to carry forward civilization and embrace the world. He expressed hope that the institute will break down disciplinary barriers, promote cross-disciplinary innovation, actively explore the deep integration of humanities and science and technology, and forge a new liberal arts development path with Xi'an Jiaotong University characteristics. He looked forward to relying on the institute as a platform to further strengthen cultural exchanges, serve national strategies, and contribute Xi'an Jiaotong University's wisdom and strength to enhancing mutual understanding and profound friendship among people of all nations.
成进介绍了研究院筹备与建设情况。他围绕研究院发展定位、学科布局、研究方向、人才团队、平台建设及未来规划等方面作介绍。他表示，研究院以学科交叉、国际视野为特色，深耕丝绸之路历史文化研究，未来将围绕国家战略需求，汇聚校内外一流人才，打造高端学术平台，助力文化传承创新与国际学术交流。
Cheng Jin introduced the preparatory and construction work of the institute. He provided an overview covering the institute's development positioning, disciplinary layout, research directions, talent team, platform construction, and future plans. He stated that the institute, characterized by interdisciplinary approaches and an international perspective, will deeply cultivate research on Silk Road history and culture. In the future, it will gather top-tier talent from within and outside the university, build a high-end academic platform, and contribute to cultural heritage innovation and international academic exchanges, all in alignment with national strategic needs.
熊召政在发言中表示，感谢学校的信任与重托，深感使命光荣、责任重大。研究院将坚守学术初心，秉持文史贯通、知行合一、开放包容的理念，持续推出高质量学术成果与文化精品，助力学校文科学科发展，努力建设成为丝路研究的学术高地、人才培养的重要基地、文明传播的前沿阵地。
Xiong Zhaozheng stated in his speech that he was grateful for the university's trust and significant entrustment, feeling a profound sense of mission and responsibility. The institute will adhere to its academic original aspirations, uphold the concepts of integrating literature and history, unifying knowledge and action, and being open and inclusive, continuously produce high-quality academic achievements and cultural works, support the development of the university's liberal arts disciplines, and strive to build itself into an academic high ground for Silk Road studies, an important base for talent cultivation, and a frontline position for civilizational dissemination.
