Covestro expands coatings and adhesives laboratory in Shanghai

近日，材料制造商科思创宣布，已完成其位于上海的涂料与胶粘剂配方实验室的扩建项目，此举将显著提升公司为亚太地区客户提供定制化解决方案的速度和能力。

Recently, materials manufacturer Covestro announced that it has completed the expansion project of its coating and adhesive formulation laboratory in Shanghai, which will significantly improve the speed and ability of the company to provide customized solutions to customers in the Asia Pacific region.

该实验室作为科思创亚太创新中心的重要组成部分，扩建后占地面积超过3000平方米，较之前增加约20%，并配备了先进的实验设备，包括一套用于水性聚氨酯分散体的全新合成装置，可显著提升工艺放大、问题排查和客户样品制备的效率。作为一种聚合物，聚氨酯分散体是制造低VOC涂料与胶粘剂的主要原材料。

As an important part of Covestro Asia Pacific Innovation Center, the laboratory covers an area of more than 3000 square meters after expansion, an increase of about 20% over the previous period, and is equipped with advanced experimental equipment, including a new synthesis device for waterborne polyurethane dispersions, which can significantly improve the efficiency of process scale-up, problem investigation and customer sample preparation. As a polymer, polyurethane dispersions are the main raw materials for the manufacture of low VOC coatings and adhesives.

扩建后的实验室支持更丰富的原材料开发，包括聚氨酯、丙烯酸树脂、聚酯及可持续替代性原材料。同时，其能够为汽车、可再生能源、建筑、印刷包装等多个行业提供更快速的配方开发和产品测试，满足客户的不同需求。

The expanded laboratory supports the development of a wider range of raw materials, including polyurethanes, acrylics, polyesters and sustainable alternatives. At the same time, it can provide faster formula development and product testing for multiple industries such as automobiles, renewable energy, construction, printing and packaging to meet the different needs of customers.

该实验室还通过整合人工智能配方工具、模拟仿真系统和机器人技术，实现研发流程的数字化与自动化升级。这些改进可提升研发速度、精度和一致性，并有效减少材料浪费和碳足迹，进一步加速为亚太客户开发新产品及配方的进程。

The lab also digitizes and automates the R & D process by integrating artificial intelligence formulation tools, simulation systems and robotics. These improvements increase the speed, accuracy and consistency of research and development, and effectively reduce material waste and carbon footprint, further accelerating the process of developing new products and formulations for Asia Pacific customers.
