The delegation from the Chinese Academy of Forestry visited the Austrian Forestry Research Center on October 28th. Exchange forum was held and the two parties successfully renewed the memorandum of understanding on cooperation. Wang Yangdong, the president of Chinese Academy of Forestry, and Peter Mayer, the director of Austrian Forestry Research Center, signed documents on behalf of both institutions respectively. Wang Zhongcheng, Counsellor of Science, Education and Culture of the Chinese Embassy in Austria, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.
It is pointed out on this meeting that both of us have gained fruitful cooperation results in key areas such as sustainable forest management, natural disaster prevention and control, and forest cultivation, making positive contributions to promoting Sino-Austria forestry science and technology exchanges and cooperation since the two sides signed the cooperation agreement for the first time in 2015.
Through the visit and the renewal of the cooperation agreement, the long-term friendly and cooperative relationship between the Chinese Academy of Forestry and the Austrian Forestry Research Center have been further consolidated , and a more solid foundation for promoting high-quality cooperation and sustainable development of Sino-Austrian forestry has been laid. For the future, the two sides will continue to deepen practical cooperation in the fields of sustainable forest management, strengthen the ecological protection, enhance forestry response to climate change, increase the forestry education and training, and jointly meet the challenges faced by global forestry development.
During the visit, the specialized training seminar was held between the two. Austrian experts shared the latest research results on frontier fields such as climate-adaptable tree species selection, natural disaster model construction, and comprehensive management of bark beetles. Members of the Chinese Academy of Forestry delegation from various research institutes and professional fields had in-depth exchanges with Austrian researchers on issues commonly concerned.
