Zheng Xue, a reporter from Civil Aviation News of China and Civil Aviation Network of China, reported that Qatar Airways (hereinafter referred to as "Qatar Airways"), as the airline with the largest number of wide body aircraft carrying Starlink services in the world, announced that its satellite Internet installation plan for the star chain has reached an important milestone: at present, more than 100 wide body aircraft have completed the installation of the star chain, providing industry-leading high-speed Wi Fi services for global passengers. This achievement not only far exceeds the industry average, but also significantly advances the original deployment schedule, allowing passengers to enjoy an unprecedented air connectivity experience earlier.
Currently, over 50% of Qatar Airways' wide body fleet has completed Starlink coverage. Qatar Airways was named the "Best Airline in the World" by Skytrax for the ninth time in 2025, and has executed over 30000 flights with full coverage of Starlink high-speed connectivity, further consolidating its industry-leading position - not only as the only airline in the Middle East and North Africa region to provide Starlink services, but also as one of the leading airlines in providing satellite connectivity services on global long haul and ultra long haul routes.
At present, Qatar Airways has fully completed the installation of star chains for its Boeing 777 fleet and is upgrading its Airbus A350 fleet at a record pace. With the star chain service covering more than 170 global destinations, Qatari air passengers can enjoy free, super high-speed full journey Internet connections on routes across six continents, including most routes to and from the Americas and Australia, as well as key routes covering Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The integration of Starlink will completely change the in-flight experience for business and leisure travelers, making streaming, gaming, and remote work a reality at an altitude of 35000 feet.
