On October 30, the Second China-New Zealand Education Development Forum was held in Beijing. Vice Minister of Education Ren Youqun and New Zealand‘s Minister for Teriary Education and Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology Hon Dr Shane Reti,attended the forum and addressed the forum.
Ren Youqun said that educational cooperation is an integral part of China–New Zealand relations. The Chinese government is committed to advancing opening-up in education, and looks forward to closer inter-institutional partnerships between universities of the two countries, carrying out high-level joint school-running programs, facilitating two-way student exchanges, deepening collaborative innovation research, jointly nurturing future generations, and jointly writing a new chapter of development.
Hon Dr Shane Reti stated said that this forum demonstrated the commitment of New Zealand and China to long-term cooperation in the education sector . He hoped that the universities and institutions of the two countries would broaden the scope of cooperation, enhance mutual understanding through educational collaboration, pursue collaborative innovation, and foster a diverse, inclusive, mutually beneficial and win-win education cooperation relationship.

More than 200 representatives from the governments, educational institutions and universities of the two countries attended the forum, and more than 30 inter-institutional cooperation outcomes were secured.
