China's Ministry of Public Security (MPS) announced on Monday that anti-drug agencies of China and the US have worked together and successfully cracked a drug trafficking and smuggling case, arresting five suspects, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

据新华社报道，中国公安部4月21日宣布，中美两国禁毒部门通力合作，成功破获一起毒品走私贩运案，抓获5名犯罪嫌疑人。

The suspects -- two Chinese nationals and three US nationals -- were arrested in coordinated operations launched simultaneously in both countries in early April by the MPS's narcotics control bureau and the US Drug Enforcement Administration, according to a statement released by the MPS.

据公安部发布的声明，公安部禁毒局与美国缉毒局于4月初在两国同步开展收网行动，抓获犯罪嫌疑人5名，其中包括2名中国公民和3名美国公民。

Raids in China's Liaoning and Guangdong provinces, as well as in the US states including Florida and Nevada, also led to the seizure of drugs such as protonitazene and bromazolam, the statement said, Xinhua reported.

行动中，警方在中国辽宁、广东两省以及美国佛罗里达州、内华达州等多地展开搜查，缴获丙托尼秦、溴唑仑等毒品。

The MPS said the operations successfully dismantled a narcotics trafficking and smuggling channel spanning the two countries.

公安部表示，此次行动成功摧毁了一条横跨两国的毒品贩运走私通道。

It described the successful cracking of this case as another major outcome of deepening practical cooperation between Chinese and US anti-drug enforcement agencies, underscoring the two countries' shared determination to combat drug-related crimes.

中方指出，该案的成功破获，是中美禁毒执法部门深化务实合作的又一重大成果，彰显了双方共同打击毒品犯罪的坚定决心。

Previously in April, a Chinese fugitive suspected of drug-related crimes was repatriated from the US to China , the Xinhua News Agency reported on April 3, citing MPS. The fugitive, surnamed Han, is suspected of drug smuggling and trafficking.

此前据新华社4月3日报道，公安部透露，一名涉嫌毒品犯罪的中国逃犯于4月从美国被遣返回中国。该逃犯姓韩，涉嫌走私贩卖毒品。

This marks the first drug-related fugitive repatriated and handed over by the United States to China in recent years, representing a new achievement in China-US counter-narcotics law enforcement cooperation, the report said.

报道称，这是近年来美国首次向中国遣返并移交毒品犯罪嫌疑人，也是中美禁毒执法合作的新成果。

In response to the case, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at the press briefing on April 3 that China and the US maintain communication and cooperation in such fields as counter-narcotics law enforcement in the spirit of equality, respect and mutual benefit, which has delivered notable results.

针对该案，中国外交部发言人毛宁在4月3日的记者会上表示，中美两国在禁毒执法等领域本着平等、尊重、互利的精神保持沟通与合作，取得了显著成效。

In February, the 11th China-US anti-drug intelligence exchange meeting was held in the US, with cross-departmental delegations from both sides in attendance. During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on the drug situation, the removal of illegal online content, joint case investigations, chemical control and management, and anti-money laundering in drug-related cases, according to Xinhua.

据新华社报道，今年2月，第11届中美禁毒情报交流会在美国举行，双方跨部门代表团出席。会议期间，双方就毒品形势、清理网上非法信息、联合办案、化学品管控、涉毒反洗钱等议题进行了深入交流。

First launched in 2002, this intelligence exchange is hosted in turn by the drug control authorities of the two countries and serves as a key institutional platform for bilateral anti-drug law enforcement cooperation, Xinhua reported.

据新华社介绍，该情报交流机制始于2002年，由两国禁毒主管部门轮流主办，是双边禁毒执法合作的重要制度性平台。
