Recently, the 100,000-ton/year BDO project invested by Shouguang Lianmeng Petrochemical Co., Ltd. with 650 million yuan successfully produced the first batch of products, officially announcing the project's commissioning. This marks an important milestone in the transformation and development process of Shouguang Lianmeng Petrochemical.
The project employs top-tier industry technology – the maleic anhydride esterification hydrogenation process from the UK's Davy Company. Compared with traditional processes, carbon emissions per ton of product have plummeted to one-fourth of the original level, while the purity of BDO products has soared to 99.85% – far exceeding the 99.5% standard of traditional processes. This not only enables direct export to the EU market but also strongly replaces imported products.
Notably, the project's production model is highly innovative: a single unit can simultaneously produce three products—BDO (1,4-butanediol), γ-butyrolactone, and tetrahydrofuran—enabling efficient resource utilization. Furthermore, the enterprise has mapped out its next development blueprint, planning to add DMS and PBS products to further enrich its product line, achieve flexible multi-production from a single unit, and continuously enhance market competitiveness.
It is reported that as a major implementation project in Shandong Province in 2024, the project has a total investment of 3.35 billion yuan and is constructed in two phases. The first phase involves building a 100,000-ton/year BDO production unit, while the second phase includes a 200,000-ton/year maleic anhydride production unit and a 60,000-ton/year PBAT/PBS degradable plastic production unit. By introducing advanced maleic anhydride esterification hydrogenation technology, the project features low waste discharge and energy consumption, with both product quality and plant intelligence reaching international advanced levels.
The successful commissioning of the 100,000-ton/year BDO project by Shouguang Lianmeng Petrochemical Co., Ltd. signals that Lianmeng Chemical is striding forward toward a green, high-end and innovative development path.
