BEIJING, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) — On the eve of the first anniversary of the Central Conference on Comprehensively Advancing Law-Based Governance, the Central Office for Law-Based Governance convened a symposium on November 4 to deepen the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Law-Based Governance. Guo Shengkun, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, and Director of the Central Office for Law-Based Governance, stressed at the meeting the need to adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guiding principle, strengthen the “Four Consciousnesses,” uphold the “Four Confidences,” and uphold the authority of the Party Central Committee and its core leadership. He stressed that thoroughly studying, publicizing, and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law must be treated as a long-term and major political task, requiring sustained efforts to deepen understanding and ensure practical implementation. This will accelerate the building of a China governed by the rule of law with sound legislation and effective governance, providing a strong legal guarantee for writing a new chapter in “China's governance.”
After listening to remarks from responsible officials of relevant departments and localities as well as representatives of legal experts, Guo Shengkun pointed out that over the past year, General Secretary Xi Jinping has personally planned, deployed, and promoted the practice of comprehensively advancing law-based governance, leading it to continuously demonstrate new momentum and achieve new accomplishments. We must keep in mind the “two major pictures” and bear in mind the “great matters of the state.” We should strive to deepen our understanding and grasp of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law by reviewing and summarizing the Party's century-long glorious journey in leading the development of the rule of law, embarking on a new journey toward the second centenary goal, consolidating and developing “China's governance,” advancing the rule of law for the people, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. We must spare no effort in implementing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and the decisions and plans of the Party Central Committee, fully leveraging the rule of law's vital role in consolidating foundations, stabilizing expectations, and benefiting the long term. This will serve high-quality economic and social development and respond to the new demands and expectations of the people. We must further strengthen the grassroots foundation and focus on building a high-caliber legal workforce.
