中宣部授予肖文儒“时代楷模”称号
The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee has awarded Xiao Wenru the title of "Role Model of the Times".
新华社北京11月3日电 为贯彻落实习近平总书记在中央人才工作会议上的重要讲话精神，大力倡导尊重知识尊重人才理念，中央宣传部以云发布的方式，向全社会宣传发布肖文儒同志的先进事迹，授予他“时代楷模”称号。
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, November 3 — To implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech delivered at the Central Conference on Talent Work and vigorously advocate the idea of respecting knowledge and respecting talent, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee has publicized Comrade Xiao Wenru’s exemplary deeds to the public via an online release, conferring on him the title of "Role Model of the Times".
肖文儒，男，汉族，1962年8月生，山西朔州人，中共党员，现任国家安全生产应急救援中心副主任兼总工程师。他参加工作38年，一直从事矿山安全生产和应急救援工作，从一名普通的救护队员做起，练就了精湛的矿山救护技术、高超的应急救援本领，成长为一名杰出的矿山救援指挥专家。他先后参加、指挥和指导矿山、隧道、山体垮塌等事故灾难救援700多起，多次冒险深入矿难现场，科学制定救援方案，成功解救被困群众1000多名，在陕西王家岭煤矿特大透水事故、辽宁阜新万达煤矿透水事故、山东栖霞笏山金矿重大爆炸事故等多起重特大矿山事故救援中发挥了重要作用。他牵头或参与制定矿山救护、培训管理、资质认证等多项制度规程，为提高我国矿山安全生产的科学化、专业化、智能化、精细化水平，增强防灾减灾救灾能力、维护社会公共安全、保护人民生命财产安全作出了突出贡献。先后荣立个人二等功、三等功各1次，荣获“最美应急管理工作者”称号。
Xiao Wenru, male, of Han ethnicity, born in August 1962 in Shuozhou, Shanxi Province, is a member of the Communist Party of China. He currently serves as Deputy Director and Chief Engineer of the National Emergency Rescue Center for Work Safety. Having worked for 38 years, he has long been committed to work safety in mines and emergency rescue operations. Starting out as an ordinary rescue team member, he mastered sophisticated mine rescue techniques and top-tier emergency rescue capabilities, growing into an eminent expert in mine rescue command. He has participated in, commanded and guided rescue operations for over 700 accidents and disasters including mine incidents, tunnel collapses and mountain landslides. On numerous occasions, he ventured deep into mine disaster sites, devised rescue plans in a scientific manner, and helped rescue more than 1,000 trapped individuals. He played a pivotal part in responding to a host of severe and extraordinarily serious mine disasters, including the catastrophic flooding at the Wangjialing Coal Mine in Shaanxi Province, the flooding incident at the Wanda Coal Mine in Fuxin, Liaoning Province, and the major explosion at the Hushan Gold Mine in Qixia, Shandong Province. He led or took part in developing multiple rules and protocols covering mine rescue, training management and qualification certification. He has made outstanding contributions to raising the scientific, professional, smart and refined standards of mine work safety in China, boosting disaster prevention, mitigation and relief capacity, safeguarding public security, and protecting people’s lives and property. He has earned one individual Second-Class Merit Citation and one Third-Class Merit Citation, and received the title of "The Most Beautiful Worker in Emergency Management".

Media coverage of Comrade Xiao Wenru’s exemplary deeds has drawn extensive attention from all sectors of society. Officials and the general public, particularly emergency management personnel and scientists and technologists, hold that Comrade Xiao Wenru lives up to the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important precepts through concrete actions. Upholding loyalty to the Party and strict discipline, and abiding by the principle of "scientific and safe rescue", he always keeps the fighting stance of "forging ahead in defiance of hardships and dangers". He assists people in distress, brings strength to the public, and makes every effort to protect people’s lives and property. He is an outstanding emergency rescue engineer who loves the Party, serves the country, and dedicates himself to his work; a loyal guardian of the Party and the people, and a vanguard model for CPC members in the new era.They stated that we should follow the example of the "Role Model of the Times", draw spiritual nourishment from the spiritual pedigree of Chinese Communists, and gain impetus for forging ahead from the Party’s century-long arduous struggle. “时代楷模”发布仪式现场宣读了《中共中央宣传部关于授予肖文儒同志“时代楷模”称号的决定》，播放了反映他先进事迹的短片。中央宣传部负责同志为肖文儒同志颁发了“时代楷模”奖章和证书，中组部、应急管理部、中国科协有关负责同志以及应急管理工作者、科技工作者、高校师生代表参加了有关活动。
At the ceremony for releasing the "Role Model of the Times", the *Decision of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee on Conferring the Title of "Role Model of the Times" on Comrade Xiao Wenru* was read out, and a short video illustrating his exemplary deeds was screened. Leading officials of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee presented Comrade Xiao Wenru with the "Role Model of the Times" medal and certificate. Relevant leading officials from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Emergency Management, and the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), together with representatives of emergency management personnel, scientists and technologists, as well as faculty and students from universities, attended the event.
