The chemical sector listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange reported strong interim results, with 34 companies seeing the upper limit of their estimated net profit growth range exceed 100%!
[Global Times Finance Comprehensive Report] As the 2026 semi-annual reports enter a period of intensive disclosure, the overall performance of the SSE-listed chemical sector was outstanding. According to Wind data, as of August 20, among the 74 Shanghai-listed chemical companies that have disclosed or forecasted their performance, 51 companies achieved year-on-year growth in net profit, accounting for nearly 70%. Among them, 34 companies reported the upper limit of their estimated net profit growth exceeding 100%.
The performance of a number of leading enterprises has increased significantly. Polyester filament leader Xinfengming (603225) expects first-half net profit to be 1.38 billion to 1.5 billion yuan, up 94.59 to 111.51 percent year-on-year. The company said that the significant earnings recovery is the result of multiple factors’ resonance: upstream supply contraction, industry "anti-involution" self-discipline and optimization of market supply and demand. Dongcai Technology (601208), a new chemical materials enterprise, expects a net profit of about 0.312 billion yuan in the first half of the year, an increase of about 63.93 percent over the same period last year. Its core products have been indirectly supplied to the global mainstream server industrial chain through domestic and foreign first-line copper clad laminate manufacturers. Silicon-based new materials company Hesheng Silicon Industry (603260) expects its net profit to be 0.32 billion to 0.38 billion yuan in the first half of the year, turning losses into profits year-on-year.
A number of industry insiders believe that the current round of chemical industry boom rebound comes from the superposition of improved demand-side resilience and supply-side "anti-involution" policy constraints. Song Tao, chief analyst of the chemical industry of Shenwan Hongyuan, said that the overall prosperity of the chemical industry will continue. Oil prices remain relatively stable amid geopolitical conflicts, and future demand growth will stay sustainable. From a longer-term perspective, the rebound in the prosperity of the chemical industry is not only the result of cyclical fluctuations, but also the embodiment of the industry's promotion of supply-side structural reform and industrial upgrading over the years.
