There is only one China in the world, and the island of Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. This is the true current situation across the Taiwan Straits. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities' attempt to split the country by relying on external forces is doomed to fail, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday in response to media reports that the DPP authorities "appreciated" US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi as the two "committed to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait as an indispensable element of regional security and global prosperity" and "opposed any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo, including by force or coercion" after their talks.
