On the afternoon of August 31, 2025, President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who was in China to attend the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, at the Tianjin Guesthouse.
Xi Jinping pointed out that during his state visit to Vietnam in April this year, the two sides reached important consensus on advancing the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future in the new era. All departments and localities of the two countries should step up implementation efforts to drive the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperation to achieve more tangible results. In the face of the accelerating century-long changes and an international situation fraught with both changes and turmoil, China and Vietnam should remain firm in their confidence in their own paths and systems, strengthen solidarity and collaboration, and ensure that the ship of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future sails steadily in the right direction.
Xi Jinping congratulated Vietnam on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He emphasized that China supports Vietnam in successfully convening the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and is willing to deepen exchanges with Vietnam on experiences in governing the Party and the country, maintain high-level exchanges, and make coordinated efforts to advance the strategic cooperation between the two countries. The two sides should actively promote cooperation in areas such as connectivity, digital economy, and artificial intelligence, strengthen exchanges of experiences in building free trade zones and special economic zones, and contribute to the modernization drives of their respective countries. It is also important to continue to well organize the celebration activities marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam and the "Red Study Tour" for Vietnamese youth in China, and create more people-to-people projects. Moreover, the two sides should strengthen multilateral collaboration to safeguard the common interests of the Global South.
Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the warm greetings from General Secretary Su Lin and President Leang Hoang to President Xi Jinping and the State President. He said that the close high-level exchanges between the two parties and two countries reflect the profound friendship of comrades and brothers. Vietnam and China share common strategic interests and are companions on the journey of socialism. Developing relations with China is a strategic choice and top priority of Vietnam's foreign policy. Vietnam is willing to strengthen strategic alignment with China, expand trade and investment, enhance connectivity, and deepen people-to-people exchanges. By standing together and helping each other, the two countries can march hand in hand towards modernization, which serves the interests of both countries and is also conducive to world peace and stability. Vietnam is delighted to witness China's remarkable development achievements and its significant contributions to the world economy. President Xi Jinping's three global initiatives provide leadership in global governance and offer Chinese wisdom and solutions for addressing common challenges.
