According to Kunming Customs on Oct. 9 (Zhou Wei, Yu Hao), as reported by Chinanews.com(China News Service),during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday in 2025 (Oct. 1-8), the China-Laos Railway saw 111,000 tons of cargo and 7,500 inbound and outbound passengers, with a year-on-year increases of 124.7% and 3.7% respectively.
The China-Laos Railway runs from Kunming in the north to Vientiane in the south. It links several renowned tourist cities, including Xishuangbanna Prefecture and Pu'er City in China's Yunnan Province, as well as Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng in Laos, providing access to more than 560 tourist attractions.
During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival period this year, the import demand for seasonal goods such as Thai durians and Laotian bananas saw a significant increase. Meanwhile, the extended combined holiday spurred a peak in cross-border travel for both tourism and family visits.
"I originally wanted to fly to Southeast Asia, but then I found that the China-Laos railway is so convenient. There is no need for complicated travel planning or worrying about fare fluctuations. You can just take the train straight to Vientiane, Laos." Mr. Li, who is preparing for his journey to Southeast Asia, happily said.
