Xinhua News Agency, Tokyo, March 27: Japan's first homemade quantum computer invented by Japan Institute of Chemistry came into use in due form on March 27, and researchers from universities and other institutions can use this quantum computer through the cloud.
According to the reports of Kyodo News and other media on the 27th, the technology used in the first computer is the superconducting circuit with zero resistance at extremely low temperatures to make qubits, the basic unit of information for calculation, like the technologies adopted by Google and IBM in the United States. The quantum computer has 64 qubits, while IBM launched a quantum computer with 27 qubits in Japan in 2021.
Quantum computer has broad application prospects, expected to be put into used in various fields like new drug research, development and encryption. The Japanese government deems that quantum computing technology will become "the core of hegemony among countries" in the future. The research competition in this field is becoming increasingly stiff, so Japan also intends to speed up research by improving algorithms, training talents and further exploring the direction of application and scenes of quantum computers.
Quantum computers may also make mistakes. How to correct potential mistakes has become a problem that urgently need to be solved, which requires "quantum mistake correction" technology. According to the report, "quantum error correction" technology is a practical project of quantum computers. Japan's first domestic quantum computer is still at the tentative stage of small scale and elementary calculation. To realize complex and large-scale quantum computing, it needs 1 million qubits.
日本产业技术综合研究所、情报通信研究机构、富士通公司等也参与了日本首台量子计算机的研发。
Japan Industrial Technology Research Institute, Information and Communication Research Institute and Fujitsu Company also participated in the research and development of Japan's first quantum computer.
