On the 5th, President Xi attended the opening ceremony of the 14th Conference of the Parties about Convention on Wetlands online and delivered a speech entitled "Cherish Wetlands, Protect the Future to Promote Global Action for Wetland Protection".
International environmental experts expressed that President Xi 's speech is of great significance, it shows us only by jointly promoting the global action of wetland protection can we preserve wetlands beauty for future generations.
Haida Muhammad, Iraqi environmental expert argued that President Xi's speech on wetland protection is highly significant, revealing China's determination to promote green sustainable development and philosophy of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Boasting wetland area exceeds 56 million hectares,China represented a considerable ecological protection achievement. Freeman Mubanga, the Research Director of Zambian Environmental Justice Center said what President Xi expressed is forward-looking. He advocated a global consensus on cherishing wetlands. For that to happen, he call on the international community to unite as one to support each other and make joint efforts to ensure that global wetlands are effectively protected and managed. That's the only way to preserve the wetlands beauty for the future.
