About 270 representatives from the United Nations Tourism Organization and tourism authorities of 41 countries and award-winning villages attended the event.
After the selection of the United Nations Tourism Organization, 52 villages in 29 countries were selected as the fifth "Best Tourism Villages", including Digang Village in Zhejiang Province, Dongluo Village in Jiangsu Province, Huanggang Village in Guizhou Province and Jikayi Village in Sichuan Province.
The "Best Tourism Village" campaign was founded by the United Nations Tourism Organization in 2021. It aims to promote the protection and sustainable development of rural cultural heritage through tourism, and strengthen the important role of tourism in helping rural revitalization. Up to now, 236 villages from 57 countries have been selected as the "Best Tourist Villages" of the United Nations Tourism Organization, of which 19 villages in China have been selected.
