埃克森美孚惠州乙烯项目总投资约100亿美元，分两期建设。一期项目计划建设160万吨/年乙烯裂解装置，主要的大宗产品包括：120万吨/年茂金属聚乙烯、47万吨/年高压聚乙烯、42万吨/年抗冲聚丙烯、42万吨/年均聚聚丙烯。一期项目2023年建成投产后，对于缓解国内聚烯烃产品供应结构性短缺问题，减少中国市场对高性能聚烯烃产品的进口依赖，将起到重要的作用。
